Calibre 1040 site improvements: Dial Galleries, 176.001 Specs, & More

Posted by

It has been just over a month since Calibre 1040 launched, and in addition to the articles I’ve published since going live I’ve made a few updates to certain areas to make the site easier navigate and more useful for other collectors’ research. Here’s a brief rundown of the updates:

Galleries on the Dial Collector’s Guide Page

At first the main page for the Dial Guide was a series of text links to the individual pages for each type of dial. Not too helpful for people that aren’t already familiar with my dial typology. I’ve added galleries to make the dial main page much more useful. I tried to use the clearest photos, taken directly centered on the dial, and crop them similarly to make spotting a dial you need to see as visually simple as possible. Of course you can still click on each dial type page for more detail.

Ref. 176.001 Specs

Now that I actually own a 176.001, I’ve updated the specs tables included on all the case guide pages. This is actually pretty exciting to me, because I’ve never seen the dimensions of this reference documented anywhere on the web previously.

Easier Navigation

The drop down menus have always been in the top bar, but I added a smaller menu below the main logo that should make navigating to the most-used content a little easier.

What’s Next

I’m always looking to learn more, and as I learn I plan to share. Right now I’m digging into casebacks, with the goal of documenting variants and adding photos of the inside and outside to he case reference pages.

I’m also open to suggestions. Is there anything you think the site needs? Let me know!
