Minor Enhancements: Bezel and Caseback Variants Added

Posted by

I try to be thorough, but man Omega sure made lots of minor tweaks in the production of the 1040 watches. I’ve added a couple of recent discoveries to the site, plus made a few back room improvements to help make navigation a little quicker.

Silver 176.007 Bezel

I spotted a new-to-me bezel on eBay. It might just be a very faded example of the standard blue 176.007 bezel commonly seen on silver-dialed 007s, but it might also be silver with white letters. I’ve added it to the collector’s guide to bezels.

Another Mark IV Caseback

H/T to reader Borut, who pointed out to me that his Mark IV has a caseback that wasn’t included in collector’s guide to casebacks. I’ve updated it both on that page and the Mark IV guide as variant 3.

Performance Improvements

The site was running slower than I’d like, and through some trial and error I traced it to the plugin I was using for social media sharing buttons. You might notice the buttons at the bottom of the page look a little different now, and hopefully pages load faster now that I’ve made that swap. While troubleshooting I did some other general cleanup to help make things run smoothly. Let me know if you experience any slow-loading pages or if anything isn’t working as expected.
